Sheffield Socials
What is Sheffield Socials?
You may or may not have seen us on that there Twitter (@SheffSocials) but not quite know who we are or what and why we are doing what we doing. In short, we are not completely sure ourselves, yet. Sheffield Socials has been set up by The Elf from @HelpSheffield and a friend from the The Sheffield Forum (https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/) with the initial aim of just bringing people together, to make friends, to visit some of the many great venues in Sheffield and to see how it goes.
How does it work?
We have, to date, had 7 meetups at Lykke in New Era Square, Dorothy Pax on Victoria Quays, Mojo in Sheffied City Centre, Treehouse Board Game Cafe, near Aldi, at the foot of London Road and Sidney and Matilda also in the city centre. We have invited anyone who follows @HelpSheffield, @SheffSocials or @SheffieldForum on Twitter or who uses the Sheffield Forum website along. There is no remit, no selling (although if you choose to talk business that's perfectly fine) and (gaming cafe aside) there are no planned activities.
Who turns up?
So far, we have had quite a varied group of people attending across the 7 meetups with an equal number of males to females, ages ranging from approximately 20 to not approximately 65. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming and we've had a right good laugh.
I'm a bit nervous, should I be?
No. Everyone has got along just fine, some people have spoken lots (i.e. The Elf) and others have just sat and listened. A number of attendees have mentioned that they have been much more relaxed than they feared they would be.
How do I get involved?
Our next meetup in on Thursday the 13th of October at 6.30pm at The Blend Cafe on Ecclessall Road. You can get tickets here
We have limited it to 40 tickets on this occasion but if they do sell out then please feel free to just turn up. The tickets are just so we have a clue as to how many might turn up.
Follow our social media platforms(see above) for updates of future events.
Any other questions?
If there is anything else you'd like to know about our meetups please do ask and we will add the answers to this post.
